How many more innocent people have to pay the price before somebody in this state grows a spine?

An 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago student, Sheridan Gorman, is dead. Chicago police charged Jose Medina-Medina with first-degree murder in the case. DHS says Medina-Medina is a Venezuelan national who entered the United States near El Paso in May 2023, was apprehended by Border Patrol, released into the country, later arrested by Chicago police for retail theft in February 2025, and released again before being charged in Gorman's killing. ICE has since lodged a detainer and publicly asked Illinois officials and Chicago sanctuary politicians not to release him.

At some point, this stops being just another outrage story and becomes what it really is: a screaming indictment of the political class running Illinois.

And that means JB Pritzker.

If Illinois had a serious legislature instead of a rubber-stamp protection racket for Democrat power, there would already be members of the House preparing articles of impeachment. Not because impeachment is easy. Not because it is guaranteed. But because when a governor presides over a state that openly wraps itself in sanctuary-state politics while public safety keeps taking hit after hit, the people of Illinois have every right to demand the highest level of accountability. Illinois' Constitution gives the House the sole power to investigate for impeachment and, by a majority vote of the members elected, to impeach executive officers; the Senate then tries the case, and when the Governor is tried, the Chief Justice presides.

That is not rhetoric. That is the constitutional process.

The Illinois Constitution says the House can impeach executive officers by majority vote, and the Senate conducts the trial.

So here is the question: if not now, when?

What is impeachment for, if not confronting catastrophic leadership failure at the highest level?

Because this is not just about one crime. It is about the climate Pritzker helped build and defend. Illinois has spent years embracing a sanctuary-state posture. The TRUST Act limits how state and local law enforcement can participate in civil immigration enforcement, and that framework has become part of the state's political identity.

Pritzker and his allies want this treated like a random tragedy disconnected from everything else. They want the public to believe the policies have nothing to do with the outcomes. They want you to shut up, lower your eyes, and keep pretending the people in charge are compassionate visionaries instead of reckless ideologues playing games with public safety.

No.

Enough.

Caught and released. Arrested and released. Then an 18-year-old girl is dead.

And the governor of Illinois wants no real political ownership of the climate that made this kind of failure possible?

To hell with that.

This is why people are so sick of Illinois Democrats. Nothing is ever their fault. Every disaster is just "complicated." Every failure is somebody else's responsibility. Every warning from normal citizens gets dismissed as hysteria right up until another family gets destroyed, and then suddenly everybody in power wants to look somber and thoughtful while changing absolutely nothing.

That is not leadership.

That is rot.

JB Pritzker is not just some bystander watching events unfold. He is the governor of the state. He is the face of the system. He is the one who benefits politically from Illinois' left-wing posture on immigration and enforcement. He is the one who presides over the state apparatus. He is the one whose party dominates the machinery. And when DHS is publicly urging Illinois officials and Chicago sanctuary politicians not to release the accused in a murder case like this, it is impossible to pretend there is no larger governing failure here.

So yes, Illinois lawmakers should begin impeachment inquiry proceedings.

Let the facts be aired. Let the policies be examined. Let the state's leadership answer, under oath and in public, for the climate they created. Let the people of Illinois see who still has the guts to put public safety ahead of partisan protection.

That is what an impeachment process is for.

Now, to be clear, impeachment in Illinois is a constitutional mechanism, not a slogan. The House would need a majority vote to impeach, and the Senate would then try the case.

But politically and morally, the case for opening that process is obvious.

What exactly is the threshold for consequences in this state?

How much failure is enough? How much chaos is enough? How many grieving families are enough? How many times do citizens have to hear that enforcement is cruel, borders are secondary, and sanctuary posturing is somehow enlightened before somebody in office pays a real price?

Sheridan Gorman should be alive.

That simple fact is what should haunt every elected official in Illinois.

And if JB Pritzker still wants to posture as some polished national Democrat while the people of his own state live with the consequences of the system he oversees, then the Illinois House should force the issue in the most serious way available under the Constitution.

Impeach him.

Put every lawmaker on the record. Make them choose. Either stand with the people of Illinois and demand answers, or stand with the governor and the sanctuary-state machine that keeps dragging this state deeper into disgrace.

No more evasions. No more polished excuses. No more press-release compassion from the people who helped build the problem.

If Illinois had any political courage left, impeachment would not be a fringe idea.

It would already be underway.
